We went to lunch after church on Sunday. The Barony House is a popular choice in the Monck's Corner area. There was about a 10 minute wait. The restaurant is located in an old house with an eclectic mix of tables and chairs scattered through several rooms so noise and crowded feeling is much less than would be expected from the number of cars in the parking lot. The Sunday menu is limited w/ many of the offerings being served regularly. Our party ordered the chicken bog w/ collards and watermelon, country fried steak w/ potatoes and gravy and watermelon, two ordered the pot roast w/ potatoes and gravy. A side of mac and cheese was also ordered.
One order of collards was never delivered but the diner wouldn't mention it to the server. The food was delicious and ample portions even though we ordered senior portions. The coconut cake was a hit! For the first time in our experiences here, the service was less than great. We were asked if we wanted lemon w/ our tea and water-but it wasn't delivered.
An order of collards wasn't brought but an extra mac and cheese was. Had to ask twice for pepper sauce for the greens. It seemed the server was either relatively inexperienced or not fully focused on the work before her. We will return on other occasions because the food has been so consistently good over the years.
